Skin Treatments – Wrinkle Treatments

At Bathurst Cosmedical & Skin Clinic we offer skin treatments including wrinkle treatments for dynamic wrinkles such as frown lines and crow’s feet and also wrinkles which are present at rest.
Dynamic wrinkles are best treated with muscle relaxants (botulinum toxin). A very fine solution of the muscle relaxant is injected into the wrinkle causing muscle, temporarily making it inactive. Following the treatment, lines no longer appear in the treated muscle when you frown or smile. Results last as long as six months in some patients.
We also offer treatments with Dermal fillers to enhance facial features and replace volume loss. Dermal fillers can also be used for wrinkles which are present at rest. Dermal fillers are injected, under local anaesthetic, using a very fine needle. The effects of temporary fillers (used for lip enhancement, volume replacement in nasolabial folds, cheeks, chin, tear troughs, or other sites on the face with volume loss) can last, on average, twelve months or more depending on the site and the product.

Alopecia AreataWe treat patchy hair loss (Alopecia Areata) on the beard area, scalp, or other parts of the body.
Cysts, Lumps & Bumps We offer surgical removal of lumps [ (such as lipomas) fat tumours)], cysts of different types (including sebaceous), abscesses and draining of painful haematomas, also unsightly lumps, and bumps (including those on the face).
Hyperhidrosis We offer treatment for Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) with Botulinum Toxin.
Ingrown Toenails Removal of part of a diseased nail by surgical methods (under local anaesthetic) for permanent treatment of recurrent nail infection.

Varicose vein treatment

Many Australians, particularly women, will develop varicose veins which occur most commonly on the legs and thighs.
These visible and bulging veins, which range in size from large veins to small spider veins, are often associated with symptoms such as tired, heavy, or aching legs and in severe cases, varicose veins can rupture and open sores (called ulcers) can form on the skin.
Spider veins are most common on the thighs, behind the knees, and on the ankles and feet, but they also appear on the face. These thin, red or purplish networks of very fine veins take their name from the pattern they form, which often resembles a tangle of webs.
The cause of varicose veins and spider veins is not entirely understood, but family history and ageing increase the chances of developing varicose veins. In addition, smoking, obesity, pregnancy and jobs requiring you to stand for long periods of time are precipitating factors.
Regular exercise to promote good circulation, especially walking, swimming or cycling, can help prevent varicose veins.
Although a very common and usually benign condition, once you have varicose veins, they are not likely to disappear on their own and many women seek out varicose vein removal treatments for cosmetic reasons.
Whilst laser therapy is used to treat some varicose veins, the majority of small and medium sized varicose veins and spider veins are treated by a method known as sclerotherapy, followed by compression. Patients who have had their legs treated by this method are also put on a walking program which helps to force the blood from the bulging veins into the healthy ones.
